Important Announcement from the Hon Sec dated 12 February 2002

Membership Renewal

Some five years have elapsed since the first members joined the Association and those 1997 membership's are now due for renewal. The new rate has been set at £15.00 (UK Members) for your next 5 years of membership and letters are now being sent to those appropriate members to rejoin. Please note that NO FURTHER REMINDERS will be sent and you will cease to be a member if your renewal subscription is not received by 20th April 2002.

It is hoped you have enjoyed some social benefits from the membership e.g. The Chronic, the 1997 Reunion and the Year 2000 Celebration at Lakeside, Frimley Green.

We are looking forward to the 95th Reunion in 2005 and our Centenary Event in the year 2010. A reunion in April 2003 is currently being considered to commemorate the First Dinner Reunion in 1938 as well as the 90th Anniversary of 'Digger' becoming an apprentice at Farnborough (well, you have to have an excuse don't you?).

It is, unfortunately, a fact of life that the costs inevitably must rise 'as time goes by' - even in low inflation countries. The Association has decided that it is necessary to raise the fees (as little as we can afford). This is to help enhance the standard and quality of the Chronic, to compensate for increased printing and postage rates and to raise more cash to keep the website up-to-date. Like all computing services (but not hardware) costs still keep rising. We have agonised about this, but your subscriptions are the only source of regular income, and we genuinely hope that it will not stop you rejoining.

NB:- If members have moved and have not notified the Secretary would they please e-mail sec@rae-apprentices.com as soon as possible with an update.
