In the coming months the 'Memoirs' site pages will provide some 'brain teasers' by way of old photographs. Can you provide the answers to the identity of the people, places and times that the photos may depict? If so please send your information to the Secretary. Here is the first 'brain teaser': The photograph below was taken in December 1950 in the Training Workshop behind the RAE Technical College and shows a group of six first year apprentices(?) receiving instruction on the principles of cutting a screw thread. The Instructor may be Mr Dickinson or Mr Walker, do you know otherwise, and can you name the six apprentices around the instructor? Also, who was the apprentice 'hard at work' in the background?
